NOTE: The machine should be unplugged and cool to the touch before you begin.

3) Remove the retaining screw from the expansion valve using the 2.5mm Allen wrench.

(Before the next step, we recommend taking a photo of how far your expansion valve has been tightened down so that you may match it when complete.)

4) Use the flathead to unscrew the expansion valve adjustment barrel and then remove it from the body of the valve.

6) Inspect the expansion valve seat for wear or damage. Clean or replace as necessary (the one in the photo was replaced as it had started to warp and come apart). Don't forget to clean inside the expansion valve body too! We recommend using a scouring pad and a mixture of hot water and Cafiza.

7) Make sure the gaskets, seat, and spring are properly lubricated before reinstalling into the expansion valve body.

8) Follow these steps in reverse to assemble the expansion valve.

9) Leave the panels off while you test the machine using a backflush blank in your portafilter to make sure there are no leaks.
