Lelit Mara X: Steam/Hot Water Valve and Seat Gasket Service

Tools Needed:

- Adjustable wrench

- Pick or other similar implement

- Towel

- PTFE tape aka Teflon plumber's tape

1. Start by opening the valve all the way by turning the knob counter-clockwise.

2. Identify the tool flats on both the steam/hot water arm and the valve assembly. This is where you'll need to place the wrenches to get a good grip.

3. Hold the arm steady with one wrench while you loosen the base fitting of the valve assembly with the other wrench.

NOTE: You may want to drape a towel over the valve arm to protect the finish from scratches.

4. Once you've unscrewed the valve assembly from the arm, inspect the rubber gasket that seals the valve. In many cases this gasket just needs to be cleaned off and the valve reassembled to resolve the issue.

In a pinch, you can even remove the gasket and flip it around to get a little more life out of it.

5. If the gasket is damaged or badly worn, pry it out with a pick or similar implement, like a narrow screwdriver.

6. Press the new gasket into place.

7. Don't forget to inspect inside the valve arm for loose debris or build up; make sure it's clean before reassembling the valve.

8. Wrap the valve threads in a layer or two of Teflon tape to make a good seal when reinstalling.
